First Word Newsletter

We are working on getting our newsletter on-line.  For the time being, if you would like to receive the newsletter, please contact our church office.
First Word is our monthly newsletter.  It contains brief articles about church happenings and a column by Rev. Michelle Webber.  This is a good place to see what is happening at First Congregational UCC Morrhead.

Sermons

As with most traditional protestant worship, our services are centered around the reading and contextualizing of the Holy Scriptures.  Sometimes our pastor does very traditional sermons, using a variety of exegetical (bible interpretation) methods.  Sometimes she ventures into ways of knowing that are more intuitive.  We do our best to present all forms of "sermon" here, although coming on a few Sundays in a row is always the best way to experience her preaching.

Lenten Devotionals

Each Lent church members and friends write daily devotionals to share with each other.  Due to the personal nature of some of the devotionals, some writers request that their work be shared only in print, not on the website.

Bible Study

Our weekly bible study class, which meets Thursdays at noon, studying a book at a time.  We are currently studying the "clobber" passages, which has recently been used to suggest that the bible condemns same gender loving relationships.  Our study resource is this video from Matthew Vines.
